Yaxham Light Railway

No 7 is an early example of the Lincoln firm of Ruston & Hornsby Ltd built diesel locomotives ‘16hp’ class built in 1934 (works No 170369) and fitted with a Lister 2-Cylinder 16hp engine.

It was supplied new to Chesterfield Corporation sewage works where it hauled sewage sludge until the railway closed.

It was initially preserved by a local scrap merchant in 1980, but was moved to Yaxham in 1982.

This loco had seen continual use since its arrival, with some limited repainting.

The loco was withdrawn from service in 2005 and is now undergoing a major engine overhall. At the same time the opertunity to clean and repaint the entire loco will be undertaken.
