No 13 is another example of the ‘20/28hp’ type Motor Rail Ltd loco at
Yaxham with works No 7474 and similar in all respects except for the cab, which has unusual twin windows.
Motor Rail had a subsidiary loco hire firm, Diesel Loco Hirers Ltd, to
which this loco was delivered in 1940. Following a long period of hire jobs it was finally sold in 1954 to the London Brick Co.’s Clockhouse Works in Surrey.
In 1966 it passed to LBC’s Warboys brick works, Cambs; during its time
here it was twice transferred to Arlesey Works, Beds. And back again.
It finally arrived at Yaxham following the closure of Warboys brick
works in 1985.
Following a repaint and some minor engine work this loco is
occasionally seen operating.
