No 10 - OUSEL - is an example of Motor Rail Ltd of Bedford, most
successful ‘20/28hp’ plate frame type locomotive (works No 7153). It is fitted with a Dorman 2-cylinder 20/28hp engine and weighs 2½ tons.
The loco was delivered new in 1937 to the River Ouse Catchment Board
in Yorkshire for remedial work on river banks.
In 1948 it was purchased by Joseph Arnold & Sons of Leighton
Buzzard, becoming their No 40, here it was to join others of the type in hauling sand from the quarries.
It was first preserved in 1979, changing hands in 1981, and again in
1984 when it arrived at Yaxham.
Apart from a repaint this loco remains in its orginal condition since
arrival at Yaxham and is seen alongside its sister loco No 13.
